Jersey represented on podium at leading conference on organised crime

Ed Shorrock, Director of Forensic & Regulatory Services at the BakerPlatt Group, was the only speaker from an offshore jurisdiction at the 2nd Annual European Serious Organised Crime Conference in Liverpool this week.

The event, which was attended by more than 200 law enforcement officers from the UK and Europe, attracted speakers from the Serious and Organised Crime Agency, Interpol, law enforcement officials from cross border policing operations, together with Chief Constables from police forces across the UK and various academics. The two day event was arranged to analyse developments in tackling organised crime and included a keynote address from Home Office Minister, Vernon Coaker.

Ed Shorrock spoke at one of the special seminars about trends and developments in asset recovery with a focus on the role of offshore jurisdictions. He commented:

’The event was an opportunity to highlight the way in which a jurisdiction such as Jersey co-operates in the drive to combat money laundering and financial crime to an influential audience of law enforcers and academics’.
