What our Bursary Students have said about the BakerPlatt Bursary Scheme
Matthew Lund, Undergraduate Bursary Student
"Overall, I rate the bursary scheme highly and would recommend it to anyone who aims to enter the legal profession in Jersey. It has provided me with a great opportunity to work with like-minded people who have all been very welcoming."
"Particularly over the summer, the opportunity to work full-time for a number of consecutive weeks allowed me to see the cases progress from stage to stage."
Hollie Dougan, Postgraduate Bursary Student
"There is always a nice atmosphere in the office, and everyone has been welcoming which is really encouraging. My time spent at BakerPlatt over the summer was really useful as I spent 4 weeks working in the offices here in Jersey which gave me a chance to get used to some of the cases that were going on at the time and watch them progress over the period."
"The opportunity to go over to 7 Bedford Row in London for a week was also extremely advantageous as this gave me the chance to see how a London-based Chambers was run, and also to go along to see some fantastic cases with the Advocates. This was something a law student would be very unlikely to experience without the help of a bursary of this nature, and so I felt very privileged to have been able to encounter it. It was both educational and exciting!"
"I would recommend applying for this Bursary Scheme to any student who is seriously considering a career in the legal field, and particularly to those who have a special interest in litigation."
